Run Boe Run!

April 24th is going to be a big day...

Over the past year, one of my dearest friends, Jenny and I have been toying with the idea of running a half marathon – and so last month we did it. We picked a race and signed up for it! PHEW! It’s gonna be awesome!! Training is a little difficult since Jenny lives in Charleston, SC and I live in Atlanta, GA – but we keep on schedule via gchat, facebook and blogging! Ohhhh technology...

What I have found to be so rewarding during this whole process are the small victories that I overcome every week. When I started this whole process, my longest run was only about 4 miles – but, as the weeks have progressed, I built up to 5, 6 and 7 mile runs, and I would be lying to you if I told you it didn’t feel awesome!! It is so incredible to see how your body can build up a tolerance for something that you never dreamed that you could do!!

On top of that, I have had the opportunity to run with some great friends! It is fantastic to take an hour or two out of our busy days and just have solid fellowship with one another! It has been and will continue to be such a wonderful treat for me!

7 miles this weekend – let you know how it goes!

A little change....

So most of you know that I am obsessed with fashion and my sense of style is pretty funky.

Anyway - my very favorite blog that I read religiously, every day, is called, "The Sartorialist" - check it out!! Well - last week was fashion week in NYC and he spotlighted some pretty incredible pieces!

Let's just talk about the photo above - I am obsessed - such a creative ensemble that pulls together so many different styles - grunge meets boho meets prep!

I love! :)

What do you think??

What is your favorite thing? Something you can't live without? What do you love?

I love Diet Coke.

So this year for lent - I gave it up. Although the headaches have been pretty intense and I don't feel like I totally have woken up for the past week, I am pretty proud of myself.

I encourage you all to try it - sacrifice something that means a lot to you or take something on. Recognize the greatest gift that was given to each of us here on earth!

Me Day

In college - my friends and I established something called, a "Me Day". It was one day that you got to take off - especially aimed at all that is YOU! Whether it was staying in your PJ's all day long, eating your favorite foods, etc. - it was 24 hours of pure relaxation - a little "sercy" that you gave yourself!

Well - this past weekend - I gave myself a much needed, "Me Day" and spent my Valentines Day with some pretty incredible friends! We packed our bags and headed to Seaside for the long weekend. It was so delightful getting out of the snow and down to the warm beaches of sunny FLA! It was honestly one of the first times in a long time that I had the chance to completely relax. We all sat out on the porch Saturday afternoon and napped/read/talked! It was perfect - and something that I really needed!

I encourage you all to take a "Me Day" in the very near future - you deserve it!

SNOW DAY!!

Ok - so I grew up in Florida - so needless to say, I get pretty excited when it snows! Seeing as how Atlanta SHUTS DOWN at the sight of one flurry - I have decided to take the rest of the day off and PLAY!! It is really incredible to see how quiet the city can get on a day like today. It is actually quite peaceful.

I'm out to go sledding with friends!! :)

I'll throw a snowball for ya!

Valentine's Day

So I was having an interesting discussion with my co-workers today. Luckily, I work with some pretty incredible people - so our conversations are always pretty awesome (be jealous). Anywhoodle - that is neither here nor there. The point of this post is to get some feedback from you all on the topic of, Valentine's Day (duuun duuun duunn..ha!). My friends in the office and I are in agreement - what's with all the hype?!?! Valentine's Day is just a day - we are called to love EVERYDAY and on top of that - love our neighbors - not just our significant others.

So I challenge you - write a note to a friend, call a family member, hug the neck of someone you love - and not just on February 14th - do it as much as you can. Life's short - let those who touch your life know it! :)

Love y'all!

A Giving Tree of Sorts

Let me start off by saying – I apologize for my absence from the blogging world. Honestly – there have been so many “joy-filled” things that have happened over the last two weeks – I couldn’t decide which to write about. But – the past couple of days something has seriously been on my heart. I don’t know if it is because I am nostalgic for things of my past or what – but I decided – why not blog about it? It’s random – but go with it…

So here is an unusual question – do any of you have a favorite tree? I know that might sound silly – but do you? I do. As a kid – I loved climbing trees (and if we are being honest here, I can tell you that I still do)! I have been all over the world – and have seen millions of them – but one holds a special place in my heart and if you have driven on I-85 North between Atlanta, GA and Clemson, SC you have passed it. It is a HUGE Oak Tree right before the GA/SC border and I love it! It makes my heart smile!

Most of you know that I love my Alma Mater. My friends make fun of me all the time – if I see a person wearing a Clemson shirt, hat, driving a car with a Clemson sticker, etc. I will literally stop and talk with them – no matter the place or time. I love Clemson – it is a place where I really established my personal walk with the Lord – through fellowship with incredible friends and playing in His creation. It is my happy place – honestly – a little glimpse of heaven for me! ☺

I drove the 8-hours from Sarasota, FL to Clemson, SC hundreds of times over the four years I was a student and always passed the same Oak Tree at GA mile marker 176. Every time ole Cam would whiz past it, a smile would take over my face – a huge grin from ear to ear because I was almost home. It’s funny, because even though I graduated over 2 years ago, I still have the same reaction every time I drive pass it – a joyful feeling in my spirit – that reminds me to, everyday, thank God for the sweet blessings that He has placed in my life!

I haven’t climbed the tree yet – but I will someday and I can’t even wait! ☺

Climb on!
