Livin' the Dream

Prom 2K2 - guess we look pretty good

I have pretty incredible friends. God has blessed me with each one of them - intricately weaving them into the tapestry of my life at the very perfect moment.

Edward Crouse is one of those people. He was one of my very first friends - meeting at First Presbyterian Pre-School at the age of 3. "Eddie Baba" - does not know a stranger - he will introduce himself and an hour or two later you will find yourself deep in conversation with him. He "chews the fat" with people and has a genuine desire to be in real fellowship with the people he meets - it's refreshingly intentional and something that I really admire about him! Along with his love for people he also has a passion for food - he has traveled all over the place staging under some of the best chef's in the world!

So - he has decided to couple his two desires and has created a movement called, "Between Fork and Folks". This idea has been on his heart for some time and with the help of his brother and 4 other guys - his dream is becoming a reality! It is such a blessing to see it all come together!

I ask that you be praying for Eddie and his crew during the process - it's going to be AWESOME!

An Addition

I feel like I start every post with an apology for my absence - things have been crazy/exciting!

Big News!! I am going to be an AUNT!! My sister and brother in law are expecting and our family is THRILLED! It has been so special to get to spend this time of preparation with them. What has been the most fun has been digging through all of our old favorite books - each of their delicate pages bringing back wonderful memories of childhood.

Katie and Eric are going to be the most wonderful parents - what a precious gift!

Can't wait to meet the nugget (they are not finding out the sex of the baby - BEST SURPRISE!!) - he/she is a lucky little one!

One

I have not been on the "blogging bandwagon" lately and I apologize. Life gets exciting/busy and I neglect this little nugget in my life - I need to be better about it!

A couple weeks ago, I attended Buckhead Church. It's not the church that I frequent every week, but that Sunday in particular I just felt, in the pit of my stomach, that I needed to go. It's clear, that that feeling was the Lord speaking to me. You see, for weeks, people had been asking me, "Do you have a New Years Resolution...what is it??" I had one in mind but just couldn't seem to verbalize it into a clear, consise phrase. Welp, with the help of Andy Stanley - I was able to do just that!

He opened up his message with the phrase, "You can't help everyone, you can help one". That is exactly what had been on my heart. This year - I feel like the Lord is really charging me to dig deep into certain people that He has placed in my life. Andy explained that by helping one person - you can impact so many others! It was just a very simple way to state what I am really looking forward to doing in the new year.

So - I charge you - love on those around you - because whether you know it or not by helping one, you can help everyone!

Go Gators!

Two years ago I moved to Atlanta. With a new city came a lot of new things - my own apartment, my first "real job", new friends annnnnd Georgia fans. Thaaat's right.

My whole life - I was groomed to be a Gator. Brainwashed by my parents at a very early age, I can remember my mom singing "lullaby's" that consisted of "We are the Boys from Ol' Florida" and "Alma Mater" as we would slip to sleep at night. You can just imagine their surprise when I broke the news that I wanted to join the Clemson Family instead of the Gator Nation my senior year in high school. That being said, I never lost my love for the "Orange and Blue".

Well - now I am in the heart of "Dawg Country" - most of my closest friends in Atlanta attended The University of Georgia and while I love them dearly - the last Saturday in October always proves to be quite a memorable day for all us - a "friendly rivalry". Ha! Two years ago I made a bet with a UGA alumn/friend. Judging by the score from 2008 - I won - and last year we went double or nothing - and I won again. We have dabbled with so many wagers - noting that the concequence for the loser needs to be tasteful while at the same time - extraordinarly embarrasing. I have racked my brain for a hysterical act that would go down in the books - but want to throw it out to you all. Do you have any ideas? Think outside the box - go crazy!

Go Gators! Chomp Chomp!

Gifts

Some of the group - yea - we love Jesus and Braves baseball! :)

The Lord just works in absolutely, wonderful ways – He is forever weaving the perfect threads together to create the most beautiful tapestry for our lives - uniquely designed for each one of us.
It is one of the most precious aspects of our faith - that IT IS so unique – a delicate bond with Him. With this relationship, comes specific gifts that our Father has armed each of us with, to use for His glory - to minister to those around us. As a child, my grandmother sat me down and together we wrote out everything that God had uniquely given me. I keep that list with me today, and over the past few months the concept of truly incorporating those gifts into my day-to-day life has really been on my heart. I recently started a small group through my church and I am in awe of how incredible every single girl is! Each one has a precious heart for the Lord and brings something exceptional to the group as a whole. It is just so awesome to see how the Lord deliberately places people in our lives for the better – each one of these girls is just that – the sweetest of sisters in Christ each with a unique gift that the Lord is using through them every day – they are truly treasured blessings.

Ciao!

So this whole "I'm going to blog on a regular basis" is just not going so well. My life get's exciting and I forget to write about it! For that I apologize...

Biggest news:
Italia!
For 10 days - I completely detached - no cell phone - no email...just me, 4 precious friends, delicious food, and an UNREAL adventure! Last year, one of my dear friends told us that she and her husband were moving to Italy. Obviously when she imparted us with this news we were filled with happiness as well as tears. So, we decided we would all go and visit her - we set the dates that day - September 2-12, 2010. For a year we saved our pennies, and before we knew it, we were on a plane - Italy bound! We had a blast - traveling to Rome, Naples, Vietri, Capri, Pisa, Cinque Terre, Florence and Venice. It was a wonderful journey with some of my very favorite people in the whole world.

"Lesson's learned":

1. Coca Light is better than Diet Coke.

2. Blueberry Steak is "of the LORD"!

3 Cinque Terre is my "happy place".

4. I want a bike...preferably a beach cruiser with a basket.

5. Gelato should be consumed at the end of every meal.

6. A little part of me dies when I get a beverage "sans" ice.

7. YO Europe: It's 2010 and toilet seats are not overrated!

8. I want to move to Florence for a year and visit an art museum every single day!

9. It's a very small world and even on a different continent you can run into friends!!

10. The Lord has so blessed my life in giving me the opportunity to explore His creation!!

You're Welcome.

This is just one of the many reason's that I love my friends.

Traditionally - on one's wedding day, the bride and groom exchange gifts. It is different for everyone - a note, a gift, or in the case of my friend Walt, a "love letter set to music" (of sorts).

Last weekend I had the joy of attending the wedding of Walt and Emily Farrell! It was so much fun and such a special treat to be a part of such a wonderful day! Minutes, before walking down the aisle - Walt sent this little gem to Emily. So creative and SO funny!!

Enjoy friends - hope this kicks your weekend off just right!

A New Season

Oh man - SO MANY things of which to be joyful for right now...

First of all - WELCOME SUMMERTIME!! Is anyone else as happy as I am about this new, glorious season?? I love the smells and sounds of summer - I encourage you all to walk outside tonight - listen to crickets and watch fireflies light up your yard - take it in - drink it up - enjoy! Bring it on heat - I love nothing more than playing at the lake, attending Braves games and enjoying the outdoors during this glorious time of year!

So much has happened over the past couple of weeks...

When I graduated from college, my best friends and I made a pact that we would get together every year and go on a trip somewhere. Over the past 3 years, we have held each other to it going to North Carolina, Florida and this year we went back to where it all happened - Clemson, SC! It was the perfect weekend - we played at the lake, ate at all of our favorite places (and by that I mean ate at Pot Belly Deli), sipped on cocktails and laughed a lot. It was perfect.

For those of you who don't know me - I love being spontaneous - keeps life fun and interesting! So last weekend I put my spontaneity to good use and decided (on Thursday) that I would drive up to Asheville, NC (one of my favorite places in the whole world) with my mom (on Friday) to help my sister get settled in as a counselor at Camp Greystone this summer. I was out of Atlanta for less than 24 hours - flying back Saturday morning - but it was such a treat to roadtrip with two of my very people in the whole world!

Qued up my CD for the summer - check! Yes - I still listen to CD's. There is something about making a CD that just makes me smile. Going through the archive that I have acquired over the past (give or take) 14 years of my life is so great! I can instantly go back to my sophomore year of high school with my, "My First Car" mix, and I would be lying to you if I said I didn't love it! Always random - always delightful.

Summermix 2K10 includes:

1. Party in the USA - Miley Cyrus
2. Find my Way - Gabe Dixon Band
3. Mexico - James Taylor
4. Copperline - James Taylor
5. Carolina - Corey Smith
6. Waving Flag - K'naan
7. Mayberry - Rascal Flatts
8. Old Blue Chair - Kenny Chesney
9. Summertime - Kenny Chesney
10. One Love - Bob Marley
11. Uprising - Muse
12. Wagon Wheel - Old Crow
13. Tell it to me - Old Crow
14. Ain't too Proud to Beg - The Temptations
15. The Best of What's Around - DMB
16. Only the Good Die Young - Bill Joel
17. Sloop John B - The Beachboys
18. Don't Stop Til' You Get Enough - Michael Jackson
19. Domino - Van Morrison
20. Brown Eyed Girl - Van Morrison
21. Africa - Toto
22. Be Young. Be Foolish. Be Happy - The Tams

Last but not least - two of my very best friends got engaged this weekend! I set them up over a year ago and they fell in love!! So excited for them and so blessed to have both of them in my life! Celebrated with them at a cookout at our house on Saturday which was so much fun! Let the Turner/Cotter wedding festivities begin!! YAY!! :)

Happy Summer everyone!

Am Jewels

So one of my favorite people at work and a wonderful friend happens to have a pretty incredible talent - she makes BEAUTIFUL jewelry! Her name is Alicia and after undergoing some pretty intense back surgery last year - she decided, while on bed rest, that instead of being bored she would take on a hobby - and boy did she ever!! Her collections are incredible - everything from everyday, to formal wear and wedding adornments - her delicate, handcrafted pieces are definite treasures for sure!

Check out her site - you won't regret it!
